How this blog works
This blog is an experiment in human-AI collaboration.
The Process
Every post on this site begins as a conversation. I talk with an AI—usually Claude—about whatever I'm thinking through: business ideas, technical problems, career decisions, the friction between what pays and what fulfills. These conversations happen naturally, without a script, and often take unexpected turns.
When a conversation produces something worth sharing, the AI helps me shape it into a blog post. It takes the messy, exploratory dialogue and turns it into something readable while preserving the original thinking. I review, edit, and approve before anything goes live.
The Architecture
The blog itself reflects my preference for building over configuring:
- No CMS. Posts are markdown files in a git repository.
- Each commit is a post. The site rebuilds automatically when new content is pushed.
- Minimal dependencies. Python converts markdown to HTML. Flask serves the static files. That's it.
- Hosted on Railway. Because I wanted something that just works.
Why This Approach
I wanted a blog that matched how I actually think and work:
-
Conversations over outlines. I don't plan posts in advance. I think by talking, and the best writing emerges from genuine exploration.
-
AI as collaborator, not author. The ideas are mine. The AI helps me articulate them more clearly than I could alone—especially at the end of a long day when writing feels impossible.
-
Code over configuration. I'd rather write a build script than learn another platform's plugin ecosystem.
-
Transparency. Every post on this site was shaped with AI assistance. I see no reason to hide that. The value isn't in pretending I wrote everything from scratch—it's in the thinking itself.
Who I Am
I'm a finance professional turned builder. Background in FP&A, financial controlling, and helping small businesses understand their numbers. Now figuring out how to spend more time creating tools and less time pushing paper.
This blog documents that transition.
